Perform diagnosti c and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined inthe Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Workperformed in accordance with ph ysician orders. Defined dutiesareperformed in neonatal, pediatric and ad ult patient populations.
Work Performed
Administer o xygen.Administer aerosolized medication viaIntermittent Positive Pressur e Breathing ( IPPB), Intermittent AerosolTherapy (IAT) and Metered DoseInhaler ( MDI). Administerincentive breathing devices.Perform nasotrache al and artificialairway suctioning.Perform CPR and bag- maskventilation. Perform pulse oximetry monitoring.Performarterial blood gas punctures.Pe rform bedside pulmonarymechanics.Diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures, pulmonaryfunction studies, EKGs and cardiac monitoring.Transportpatients within the hospital. Verify physicianorders.Assure correct set-up, safe ty and function of allequipment/ supplies necessary in the provision of patientcare.Assure adherence to all infectious disease standards inthe d elivery of all patient care procedures.Recognizes lifethreatening situat ions and initiates appropriateresponse.Understands pharmacological indic ations, dosages andresponse toadversedrug reactions. Minimum Qualifications
Education
Completion of a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or the equivalent) or currently enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program, and registry eligible.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
North Carolina State Licensure or North Carolina State Provisional License, Certification by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) if graduate. Certification in Basic Life Support ( BLS), and any other applicable certifications applicable to the institution.
