About the Role:
Job Summary
Provides physical therapy treatments as designed by the supervising physical therapist. Provides ongoing care independently, consulting with the Physical Therapist regarding changes in treatment and discharge. Provides care/service that meets the developmental needs of patients across the life span as appropriate to the patient population and as indicated on the skills checklist. This position will care for patients in the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Current license holder of the Georgia Board of Physical Therapy.
Educational Requirements: Associates Degree. Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy, Assistant.
Minimum Experience: One (1) year of experience as Physical Therapy Assistant. New graduates from approved school for Physical Therapy Assistants will be considered.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Conducts physical therapy according to the physical therapy plan of care. Provides quality rehabilitative care to patients as outlined in the treatment plan. Completes all required documentation according to regulatory agency and departmental standards. Notifies appropriate therapist of the patient's progress and suggests changes in the plan of care when indicated. Assists in discharge planning by assuring the patient has appropriate equipment at home, and family is aware of a home exercise program. Performance monitored by feedback from discharge planners and physical therapist. Ensures re-evaluation of the patient and plan of care is completed by the therapist as indicated.
Contributes to the effective operation of the department and consistently meets or exceeds the program productivity standards. Asks for assistance from other staff when necessary for patient care and safety. Delegates appropriately to techs and works within the Georgia state practice act for physical therapy, and according to the code of ethics established by the APTA. Accepts work in other programs as requested by management. Communicates effectively and demonstrates good interpersonal skills and professionalism. Finishes all job assignments in a timely manner as determined by direct supervisor.
