This position supports the Medical Center and community living center (CLC) and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The incumbent is the point of contact (POC) for facility telehealth programs involving PMRS. This position is located at the CMC VAMC in Philadelphia. Responsible for the supervision of the inpatient and outpatient telehealth programs relevant to rehabilitation within the CMJC VAMC facility. The incumbent provides technical oversight of the staff whom he/she supervises. He/she demonstrates a great deal of autonomy in performing supervisory responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, assigning and evaluating work of subordinate staff, as well as resolving problems which may interfere with the delivery of care for the veterans by staff members. He/she will provide physical therapy and telehealth technical advice and consultation relevant to rehabilitation in more complex cases, develop and initiate new treatment programs which apply current research findings that build on the current video programs, participate as an instructor in the facility's in-service clinical training regarding telehealth programming, consult with staff physicians and other clinicians through patient presentations about telehealth programming, attendance at patient conferences which will build on developing and enhancing telehealth programming, and interview candidates for positions in the section; recommending appointments, advancements, or, when appropriate, disciplinary actions; evaluate performance; and identify continuing education and training needs. The Telehealth Program coordinator is responsible for the expansion of telehealth program across the PMRS department and supports the PMRS Telehealth/Telemedicine program. In this role, the incumbent is expected to coordinate PMRS Telehealth clinic activities with all the referring providers including from Primary Care, Neurology, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Pain Medicine, etc. This coordinator is responsible for the examination and treatment of Veterans referred to the PMRS Department for telemedicine; works with the Chief of PMRS to provide educational experiences for staff members in the area of telehealth; develops and provides timely reports to the Chief, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PMRS); may represent the PMRS Department at various clinical and administrative meetings/rounds at the discretion of Chief, PMRS; plans and carries out his/her assigned duties, resolving conflicts that arise, coordinating his/her work with others in telehealth as indicated and interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. The Telehealth Program Coordinator performs as an autonomous practitioner with clinical and administrative oversight from the Chief, PMRS for the tour of duty. Coordinating Telehealth clinic activities across multiple disciplines including physician, chiropractor, NP, RN, physical therapy and occupational therapy, and other personnel who work under RMS/PM&R programs and regardless of home service line, including assignment of work for evaluation and treatment of patients referred to Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center Clinics including a variety of specialty areas including , Acupuncture, EMG, Inpatient, Outpatient, Polytrauma, Blind rehabilitation, Low Vision, Amputee, Wheelchair and Spinal Cord clinics, Chronic Pain Management program, as well as the Whole Health program. Reviews/assigns all appropriate PM&RS Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center inpatients and outpatient consults to correctly triage patients for timely physician, physical therapy ,occupational therapy and/or other specialty services that demand video/telemedicine/telehealth assessments and intervention to ensure maximal functional outcomes and a high quality of care. Determines telehealth department priorities in conjunction with the Chief, PMRS department, assigns work, and ensures that established productivity is maintained across multiple disciplines including physical therapy, chiropractic, nursing, occupational therapy, rehabilitation therapy assistants, and medical support assistants, as well as other rehabilitation specialist who work under RMS/PM&R programs. Under the direction of the Chief, PMRS department, monitors scheduling practices for all departmental telehealth clinics to ensure that patients are scheduled in a timely manner based on acuity to promote the highest possible functional outcome. Monitor and track telehealth data, utilize available telehealth resources effectively, evaluate telehealth program quality, and generate rehabilitation-relevant telehealth reports for local, and/or VISN and/or VHACO leadership. Ensures bi-directional communication with the VISN and VHACO for applicable telehealth operational issues including performing day-to-day management of activities and/or manage communication.
