The Senior Chiropractic Physician is responsible for clinical supervision of a team of Chiropractic Physicians and is also responsible for program development, efficient management and coordination, and performance improvement and evaluation of this program and services. Works collaboratively with all other relevant services in providing effective and timely chiropractic comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for patients with orthopedic, musculoskeletal and/or neuromuscular problems. Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care System (FNCVACCS) Chiropractic Service within the Whole Health Service Line provides examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of non-operative musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Chiropractors are licensed independent providers who work as part of VA interdisciplinary teams including physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pain management, other relevant medical and surgical specialties, and other relevant associated health disciplines. Duties include but are not limited to: Develops plans, coordinates, evaluates, and integrates all program elements into a comprehensive chiropractic program for the VA facility, including management and coordination of schedules and programs within the Chiropractic Program. Triages consults and assigns patient caseload. Identifies, collects, and analyzes appropriate patient care information to provide a data base to support Performance Improvement projects related to assigned clinic and/or specialty area. Conducts meetings, as needed with staff; acts as Chiropractor-in-charge of clinical issues; coordinates patient care when a chiropractor is absent to ensure adequate patient care coverage. Investigates and reports complaints and takes effective corrective action when necessary. Identifies and resolves interpersonal or professional conflicts when dealing with veterans and members of the Team. Provides chiropractic program oversight, coordination, and performance improvement activities and outcome measures including workload reports and service level scorecards. Is the primary advisor concerning chiropractic patient care services and its integration with other facility services and assists with developing both short and long range objectives for continuous improvements with provision of these services. Develops and/or updates and implements appropriate policies, procedures, plans, and service agreements that guide and support the chiropractic program. Develops requests for program space, staffing, equipment, and supplies. Develops and implements an educational plan to meet challenges of the program for self and others. Mentors assigned support staff to promote staff development and organizational training; serves as liaison between staff Chiropractic Physicians and the Whole Health Clinical Director. Develops and maintains academic affiliation(s) and serves as an (Adjunct) Professor working with affiliate University in coordination of VA Education Office; Supervises and participates in the chiropractic student education during their VA rotation. Manages and coordinates chiropractic services via the Chiropractic Choice Care Program in coordination with VA staff to guidelines set by the Veterans Choice Program. Triage patients for consideration of treatment via Non-VA Care, place Choice Care consults, provide treatment plans, provide treatment records oversight as provided from the Choice third party administrator, and consider Secondary Authorization requests for approval or denial per guidelines as established by the Standardized Episodes of Care (SEOC) for purchased chiropractic care.
