This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more The Clinical psychologist provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care; performs evaluations for (enter specific patient population);provides a full range of therapeutic interventions; Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. The Clinical psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities. At the full performance level, GS-13 the incumbent will provide clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training; Involved in Psychology Training Program and Training Committee; Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staffs of units to which assigned;Is involved in the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, fellows and other graduate or post-graduate trainees, as appropriate; Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assist in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients. The incumbent may be assigned to any VHA program and setting, such as inpatient or outpatient medicine, primary care, surgery, mental health, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, geriatrics, Compensation and Pension, Vet Centers, and the VHA National Center for Organization Development. Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. However, the current proposed assignment is within the PTSD Clinical Team (PCT), providing specialized mental health care for veterans with trauma-related disorders. The incumbent will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing assessment; group, couples, and individual psychotherapy; and consultation services to veterans with PTSD. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing women veteran services within the PTSD clinic. Additional expectations include conducting Compensation & Pension exams for veterans seeking VA disability benefits. Preferred Experience: Training and experience with evidence-based practices relevant to PTSD clinic services (e.g., PE, CPT, and STAIR) and expertise in treating MST survivors and those with complex trauma presentations is required. Experience working with high risk veterans and expertise in delivering Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and with evidence-based couples therapies is preferred. Familiarity with administering CAPS-5 is a plus. Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine is encouraged. BLS Certification Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions for face-to-face appointments at NYHHS, full-time telework may initially be possible temporarily. When normal operating hours commence this position is based on site at the Manhattan VAMC. Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 8am-4:30pm; Tuesday 8am-7pm & Friday 8am-12:30pm ; flexibility of work tour, including some early evening hours maybe required.
