The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program consists of an intensive outpatient program, medication management, individual and group outpatient services, and at times inpatient consultation. The clinician holding this full-time position will provide evaluation and treatment of veterans engaged in the SUD program in Danville, IL. The clinician will provide evidenced based, recovery-oriented services to veterans with substance use disorders and other co-morbid mental health conditions. The clinician will function as a full member of the substance use disorder program's mental health team, including but not limited to active participation in treatment team meetings as well as engaging with Veterans as appropriate and requested through intake evaluations, psychological testing, individual psychotherapy and psychoeducation/counseling, and psychoeducational groups. Care may be provided in outpatient, residential, and inpatient settings. While most services are provided during a standard tour of duty, the clinician may also provide services for patients on Saturdays and/or evenings. This clinician functions within the Mental Health Service. The Substance Use Disorder Program Manager provides direct clinical and administrative supervision. The clinician is further responsible to the Chief of Psychology, Chief of Mental Health Service and the Chief of Staff. Performs psychological evaluations and consultations for individuals with substance use disorders and other comorbid mental health conditions for purposes of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. These evaluations employ a comprehensive diagnostic interview, review of available records, as well as objective and cognitive tests when indicated. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions as a member of the Substance Use Disorder Program, including individual psychotherapy and psychoeducation/counseling as well as psychoeducational groups. Best practices, clinical practice guidelines, and evidence-based treatment protocols are utilized to the extent feasible in all therapeutic interventions. Ensures that all clinical work is documented accurately and in a timely fashion, consistent with the MHSL and facility expectations and policies. Participates fully in peer review and clinical pertinence review to ensure the quality of professional psychology services provided in the organization. Assures that appropriate referrals to specialty programs, including community resources, are accomplished. This may include referrals to other Mental Health Programs (i.e., Mental Health Clinic, Neuropsychology, PTSD Clinic, Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery, Compensated Work Therapy, Homeless services, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.). Fully accountable for practice, including completing encounters, creating and updating treatment plans as appropriate, entering patient care notes, measuring outcomes to interventions, and meeting productivity standards. Participates in the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using data-driven quality assurance processes. Implements process improvement initiatives to promote optimal service delivery.
