Traumatic Brain Injury Physician - Concussion

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a full-time academic physiatrist. Applicants must be Board certified/eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation with experience in concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Appointment rank and tenure will be at a level consistent with the applicant’s accomplishments. The successful candidate is immediately eligible to participate in the department’s faculty incentive program focusing on scholarly and teaching activities. Applicants having completed a brain injury medicine fellowship are preferred. The review of applications will begin after February 1, 2021 and will continue until the position filled. The UAB Department of PM&R has a recognized program in TBI research that warrants expansion given the number of trauma cases seen at this Level 1 Trauma Center and the impact of TBI on the lives of our patients. Funding sources for TBI research activities in our department have included NIH, CDC, NIDILRR, and DOD. The UAB TBI Model System program has been continuously funded since 1998, with one of the largest enrollments of TBI cases of any center. We offer excellent opportunities to form interdisciplinary research collaborations with basic and clinician scientists.
