Nationwide Children’s Hospital is currently seeking two junior or early/mid-career physicians to join the Pediatric Pulmonary Department located at Mercy Health Children’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, an affiliate of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Pulmonary Medicine Department at Mercy Health Children’s Hospital includes a multidisciplinary staff consisting of nurses, medical assistants, respiratory therapists, social workers, and clerical support. Support staff are available to perform pulmonary function tests, as well as bronchoscopies with sedation. The position includes teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. This position includes inpatient consultation to the pediatricians and pediatric sub specialists, the NICU, and Emergency Department. The position also includes general outpatient pediatric pulmonary services and some outreach clinics in the region. This position requires an individual with excellence in clinical care and teaching. Minimum qualifications include an M.D. or D.O. degree, board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology and eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio. Candidates will be able to collaborate with faculty in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital located in Columbus, Ohio. The Division consists of 18 faculty and a multidisciplinary staff includes nurse practitioners, nurses, clinical pharmacists, medical assistants, respiratory and rehabilitation therapists, psychologists, dieticians, and social workers. Care is provided for respiratory diseases, including sleep medicine and lung and heart lung transplantation. There are robust programs to provide care for asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep disordered breathing, BPD, neuromuscular diseases, sickle cell associated lung disease, among others. The candidate would be able to participate in the educational conferences and meetings for the division and in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. As an extension of their current collaborative partnership, Nationwide Children’s Hospital will acquire Mercy Health — Children's Hospital effective January 1, 2022.
