Massage Therapist PRN
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide massage services to healthy individuals or to patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or have had changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. Actively collaborates with the health care/educational team to meet patient care, outcomes, and system improvement objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides therapeutic interventions for patient and client identified objectives/goals. Demonstrates ability to do the following:
- Select appropriate intervention(s) which produce the desired outcome(s) within the timeframe projected.
- Modify the treatment plan if patient/client is not deriving benefit.
- Incorporate new information gained, from ongoing dialogue with patient/client into treatment plans.
- Functions as an integral member of the healthcare team. Demonstrates ability to do the following:
- Respect roles and professional boundaries of others
- Understand/comply with policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with patient/client and team, as applicable, in provision of care.
- Follow through with assigned roles and required activities (i.e. staff meetings).
- Refer patients/clients appropriately, when needs require intervention beyond scope of practice.
- Completes timely documentation. Demonstrates ability to do the following:
- Consistently meet department and VUMC documentation standards.
- Convey essential information in words easily understood by the audience.
- Promote and meet obligation for reimbursement of the services provided.

Vanderbilt Orthopaedics cares for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, chronic conditions, deformities or trauma. This clinic sees approximately 60,000 patients per year and has the following specialty areas: Trauma, Oncology, Foot & Ankle, Podiatry, Total Joint Reconstruction and Preservation, Spine, Sports Medicine, Hand, General and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Our team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, cast techs, medical assistants, athletic trainers, patient service specialists, managers and supervisors.
