Neonatologist

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a BC/BE neonatologist to join its dedicated group at Arnot Ogden Medical Center (AOMC) in scenic Elmira, New York. Ideal candidates will be strong clinicians who work well in teams, adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines, and provide high quality care. Block scheduling is used, and physicians can live outside the area if needed.

Below are highlights of this opportunity:

• AOMC's 20-bed, Level-III NICU is a regional perinatal center serving an eight-county area in the Finger Lakes region of New York.
• The practice staffing model includes four neonatologists working 24-hr in-house shifts with some NNP support.
• The hospital averages 1,300 births per year, and the NICU has an average daily census of 14 neonates. Approximately 15 to 20 percent of the unit's 370 annual admissions are transports from referral hospitals that serve the population of the surrounding counties.
• Services offered include conventional ventilation and HFOV.
• The hospital provides excellent nursing care and a wide range of perinatal and pediatric subspecialty support is available.

Arnot Ogden Medical Center is a 266-bed tertiary medical center and the flagship hospital of Arnot Health, a regional non-profit health system formed in 2011 from the merger of AOMC and St. Joseph's Hospital. The health system serves the region through three hospitals plus other long-term care centers, rehabilitation facilities and local physician offices.

About the Area

Elmira is geographically situated near the New York-Pennsylvania state border in an area known as the “Southern Tier” of New York State. It is approximately equidistant from Boston, Montreal, Washington D.C. and Cleveland. The area is located at the southern end of the Finger Lakes Region and is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Finger Lakes," an area renowned for its beauty and wines. Elmira is considered the primary metropolitan area in Chemung County, and the metro area has a population of approximately 100,000.
