Monday through Friday schedule
Call from home, 4-6 weeks per year
No admitting responsibilities
The general Physiatry clinic focuses on outpatient follow up and management of stroke, TBI, SCI, and amputee patients as they re-enter the community. Opportunities to perform diagnostic EMG, musculoskeletal injections, and spasticity management, including EMG and US guided Botulinum toxin injections, are available in the outpatient setting.
The successful candidate will have frequent collaboration with Neurology, Trauma, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, and Neurocritical care, and will be part of a larger, full service team of physiatrists who are well-established in the community. Inpatient Consultant Responsibilities include:
Acute care hospital consultation on patients with complex physical and neurological injuries
Regular follow up of consult patients through discharge
Liaise with hospital services, including Trauma, Neurosurgery, Neurocritical Care, Vascular Surgery, Neurology, and Internal Medicine.
Work closely with one of the largest and most experienced therapy departments in the state, encompassing the full scope of PT, OT, and Speech therapy services.
Assist primary services in managing complex traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multi-trauma, stroke, and amputation.
Continue to build our growing consultation service. The Physiatry service is in high demand, and in need of more in-hospital presence.
The Rehabilitation Medicine service at Maine Medical Center is a dynamic and growing part of our Neurosurgery and Spine practice, which includes nine Physiatrists, ten Neurosurgeons, three orthopedic spine surgeons, anesthesiology pain management, and physical therapy. We have close ties with specialty services in the hospital and community, including Neurology, Endovascular Neurosurgery, Vascular surgery, Trauma surgery, and Neurocritical Care. The practice provides compassionate, high-quality and personalized care to the people of Maine and Northern New England with disorders of the brain and spine. Over the past 5 years the practice has started the inpatient consultation service and opened an outpatient general Physiatry clinic to expand rehabilitation services in the community.
