Wake Forest Baptist Health is currently seeking emergency medicine physicians for our practice sites at Cannon Memorial Hospital and Watauga Medical Center. The practice sites have small group structure, with the security of large group contract/employment model.
The selected candidates will join an esteemed team of professionals dedicated to providing superior care. The physician governance is a unique, open book model with group decision making and input. Our EDs offer state-of-the-art equipment and technology, with access to the resources and specialists of a large academic medical center. The ideal candidates will be exceptional Emergency Medicine Physicians with a successful record of clinical and service excellence North Carolina medical licensure or eligibility.
Cannon Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed acute care hospital with a 10-bed inpatient behavioral health unit in Linville, NC. The full-service ED, imaging department, laboratory, outpatient behavioral health, physical and occupational therapies, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation round out the list of services. BC/BE in Emergency Medicine is not required.
Watauga Medical Center is licensed as a 117-bed regional referral medical complex, offering both primary and secondary acute and specialty care in Watauga, NC. The Medical Center is certified as a Primary Stroke Center and a community cancer care center. BC/BE in Emergency Medicine is required.
Watauga County is situated in the southern Appalachian Mountains in northwestern North Carolina off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. The mountain climate features considerably milder summers and (average high temperatures in the upper 70s) and colder winters (average of 34” of snowfall annually) than the rest of the state. As a result, there are abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation in the area from skiing to white water rafting to hiking. A growing greenway system also offers an easily accessible way to stay active. The current population is 53,000, about 18,000 of whom live in Boone, the county seat and home of Appalachian State University. The presence of the university and a strong tourism economy give the area a broad range array of cultural opportunities and services.
