Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population. - Responsible for assisting and providing safe nursing care to patients with complex nursing care needs. - Guides and evaluates performance of professional and assistive staff. - Initiates effective actions in emergencies. - Documents observations, assessments, changes in patient's condition and education. - Guides and documents the performance of personnel assigned to area of responsibility and collaborates with the Nurse Manager in evaluating the performance of all levels of personnel. - Participates in performance improvement activities at the unit level, as assigned. - Teaches and promotes health maintenance and rehabilitation of patients and their families. - Collaborates with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcome. - Provides a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical, and/or behavioral problems. - Accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. - Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
